Wastewater Treatment Facility in Sweetwater County, WY

Since 2010, Polar Bear Water Treatment has conducted outstanding wastewater disposal services at our eco-efficient facility in Sweetwater County, WY. Providing the oil and gas industry with stellar wastewater disposal has been our mission since day one. By optimizing our natural environmental conditions and applying our Freeze-Thaw/Evaporation (FTE®) process, we can treat and dispose of produced water and frac flowback on site at the facility, which ensures the disposal space that producers require for year round operations. Polar Bear is also permitted to accept high sediment, water-based drilling fluids, which is an additional service that is not provided in most traditional oilfield evaporation facilities.

Water Treatment at Polar Bear- The Freeze-Thaw/Evaporation (FTE®) Process

Our innovative and novel Freeze-Thaw Evaporation (FTE®) process optimizes our naturally occuring climatic conditions  on a year-round basis. FTE® capitalizes on the arid  Rocky Mountain conditions to freeze produced waterand purify it seasonally. As it melts, it separate the brine from the fresh water. The treated water meets the Department of Environmental Quality water standards for discharge or reuse for beneficial purposes such as drilling mix, dust abatement, or irrigation. We utilize the warmer months to operate as a high-functioning enhanced evaporation facility. We owe our breakthrough technology to Polar Bear Water Treatment’s former Operating Manager, John Boysen, who researched and developed this process in the 1990s.

Benefits of FTE

Utilizing water treatment helps Polar Bear create a freshwater source that can be used for dust abatement and irrigation on site and on lease roads.  Because it can be used for these purposes, it can be removed from the ponds, which creates a significant amount of space that can be made available to our customers in the oil and gas industry year round. The FTE®  process doesn’t produce any new wastes is an environmentally friendly technology.

Wastewater Disposal Pricing

We base our competitive prices for water disposal on the amount of solids in each delivery.  All water brought to the facility for disposal is sampled for solid content before off-loading.  The sample is centrifuged on site by facility operators, and the solid content is recorded on all haul tickets to inform the oil and gas operators.  For more information on pricing, contact Deedee Boysen at the Polar Bear Office to set up an account or to receive a current rate sheet.  She enjoys meeting prospective oil and gas industry customers, and is happy to answer all of your disposal pricing and contracting questions.
